Teens enjoy glitter and bling and that is what this spider is – very glittery! I think if spiders looked like this all the time, I’d be more into them and maybe my teen daughter wouldn’t screech when she sees one. But after checking out all of the spiders in my science fair project idea, I know better!
This craft idea came from the need for a spooky necklace for a homemade teen Halloween costume. Costumes of witches, girl vampires, etc. tend to need accessories that can really add to the cost. The items in this craft are inexpensive and you may already be able to find them in your craft closet. Also, it is a budget friendly craft for a group of teens.
The necklace can be worn for fun to school during the week of Halloween if your teen likes to add some Halloween flavor to their fashions. This can also be converted into a bracelet simply by doubling up and shortening the black ribbon that is holding the pendant.
Supplies you will need to make this teen Halloween craft:
- Glittery spider(party store)
- Wire; 22-20 gauge
- Button with holes
- Black satin ribbon; 1/2-inch
- Heavy duty hold glue dot
It takes three easy steps to assemble the Halloween spider necklace:
- Center the button on the wire so that the two ends are equal and sticking up. Twist the two ends into a loop and secure it with the tail if the wire.
- Use the glue dot on the opposite side of the button as the wire loop. Adhere the spider. Note: If there is too much glitter where the spider is attached to the button, it will not stay stuck. Brush off some of the glitter if this is the case.
- String the ribbon through the loop. Tie into a bow to hang around your neck. Trim the ends into a point.
