Cut the Friendship Star Quilt Block pieces.
For this block done in the sample size of 9-inches(9 1/2 unfinished), you will need these cuts in two different fabrics:
- 4 – 3 1/2 squares of fabric #1
- 1 – 3 1/2 square of fabric #2
- 2 – 4 3/8 squares of fabric #1
- 2 – 4 3/8 squares of fabric #2
Make your half square triangles.
Using one 4 3/8 square of each fabric, place them right-sides together. Repeat with the other set of 4 3/8-inch squares.
Using a ruler, mark the square on the diagonal. Now sew 1/4-inch to each side of the diagonal. So, sew down one side, turn and sew down the other. Repeat with the other set of 4 3/8-inch squares.
Line the ruler up with the diagonal line you drew and cut the square in half, repeat with second set. Iron to set the seam and to open the square, repeat with second set.
Trim to square off your half-square triangle pieces to 3 1/2-inches.
