1.) Recycled jeans make a fun and sturdy cover for a notebook.
Using a pair of recycled jeans to cover a notebook is a fun and easy craft that your teen will enjoy doing.
2.) Gather your supplies.
You’ll need:
- Recycled pair of jeans, larger size.
- 3-ring notebook, any size
- Hot glue and gun
- Trimmings
- Scissors
3.) Glue the back of the jeans to the spine.
Cut off the legs of the jeans. Cut open the front of the jeans, right up the center along the zipper on both sides so you can lay it flat, taking out the zipper. Glue a line of hot glue down the back seam of the jeans and press the spine of the notebook to it.
4.) Trim the edges around the notebook.
Open the notebook and trim a 1-inch allowance around the notebook. If this cuts a pocket and creates flapping pieces, glue them down to a sturdy piece of the jeans.
5.) Glue the side edges to the notebook.
Glue the side edges of the notebook, not too tightly. You want the notebook to be able to close without pulling.
6.) Trim the corners and finish gluing the edges.
Trim the corners of the denim as shown in the picture. Glue down the top edges.
7.) Decorate the front of the notebook and variations.
Using hot glue and trimmings, decorate the front of the notebook.
Variations:
- Personalize with fabric paint.
- Use the bottom of a recycled pair of flare jeans for a no-pocket look.
