Coils are fun to use, although they can be a pain to make by hand. If you will be making coils often to make wire clasps or other coil pieces, I suggest you get a coiler.
You’ll need these supplies:
- 10-12-inches 21 or 22 gauge wire
- 3-inches 16 or 18 gauge wire or thicker
You’ll need these tools:
- wire cutters; flush cutters
- Round nose pliers
- Bent nose or chain nose pliers
- Coiler(optional)
- Hammer
- Anvil or steel plate
Directions for this Tutorial:
1.) Wrap or create a 2-inch coil to go over the 16-inch gauge wire. Place what you have left over of the 21-inch gauge wire to the side.
2.) Trim the thicker wire leaving a quarter inch of wire on both sides. Flatten the ends.
3.) Using your round nose pliers, curl the ends over the coils as shown in the picture.
4.) Round the first loop of the S in the clasp and use your leftover wire to secure it.
5.) Create your second loop. Enjoy!
