Blue Chain Bead Necklace Design Tutorial

Beaded earring and necklace set in a chain with gorgeous blue beads that I had in my bead box. I used enough pearls to bring the piece together and then used a mix of blue all over for a trendy and fun look. I made this beaded necklace long for a cowl neck sweater I have, but you can shorten it. If you do so, you will need to add a clasp in the back. You can find the directions for the blue chain drop beaded earrings here.

You’ll need these supplies for this beaded necklace design:

  • Chain
  • 3 Pearls
  • 8 Glass beads in blue; random shapes and sizes
  • The O part of a small toggle clasp
  • Wire to wrap beads; 22-gauge for pearls, 21 or 20 for the glass beads
  • 1 headpin
  • 1 charm; mine is a snowflake

You’ll need these tools for this beaded necklace design:

  • wire cutters
  • chain nose pliers
  • round nose pliers
  • ruler

Instructions for this beaded necklace design:
1.) Bead the beads into bead links, just looping not wrapping, except for one pearl, which should be made into a bead drop using the headpin.
2.) Connect three beads together(one being a pearl), add a length of chain about 1-inch, connect a pearl, one inch of chain, connect a blue glass bead and then the O of the toggle clasp.
3.) Connect one bead link to one and one half inches of chain, place through the small O of the toggle clasp and then connect to another blue glass bead. This will give a ‘fake’ lariat look to the necklace, but won’t keep coming undone when you wear it.
4.) Add the charm and the drop pearl to the end bead.
5.) Working up the other side, add one inch of chain and then a big blue glass bead, one inch of chain and I put a double beaded link here.
6.) Add your back chain according to what length you would like.
Enjoy!
