This fun notebook and pen set has a magnetic back for easy hanging in a school locker. Teens really enjoy making this useful school craft.
You’ll need:
- Mulberry or handmade paper
- Notepad
- Pen
- Embroidery floss, two colors
- Stickers
- Marker
- Craft tacky glue/glue stick
- Magnets
- Scissors
Mark the edge of the notepad on the mulberry paper and tear along the out side of it. Glue the paper down on the front of the notepad, you may need to do this twice to cover the notepad. Tear smaller pieces of the paper and glue it down the front. This makes lots of fuzzy edges all over.
Add stickers and the saying – or other embellishments like buttons, beads or die cuts. Go with your style and have fun with it! If you are doing this for a group, have lots of things to choose from.
Either use self-adhesive magnets or glue the magnets on the back of the notepad. Cut two pieces of embroidery floss, three yards each. Place some craft glue down the side of the pen and adhere the floss(string) placing the end of the string at the top.
Begin twining up the pen with the two colors of floss, adding thin layers of glue on the pen and then doing a couple of turns with the floss. This is going to be the longest part of the craft time-wise. When you reach the top, use some extra glue to secure and twine around an extra time. (see pen craft made here)
Tie the other end of the floss to the spiral in the notebook. Trim the end. Be sure you have enough floss between the pen and the notepad that you can write on the paper. Enjoy!
