How to Make a Head Pin Out of Wire: Spiral Head Pin

Spiral the end of your wire to make this delightful head pin.
You’ll need these supplies:

  • 21 gauge wire

You’ll need these tools:

  • wire cutters; flush cutters
  • Hammer
  • Round nose pliers
  • Chain or bent nose pliers
  • Anvil or steel plate
  • Wire file





Directions for this Tutorial:
For each headpin:

  • Cut wire to the desired length of the head pin plus 1 and 1/2 inches.

  • Make an open or closed spiral at the one end. Three times around is good, for a bigger spiral go four times around. Leave one to two inches of wire to bead.

  • You can choose to flatten the spiral with your hammer and anvil.
